Following thunderstorms that passed through the Umpqua National Forest on Wednesday which resulted in multiple cloud-to-ground lightning strikes, eleven fires have been confirmed.

A UNF update said eight remain active. Resources engaged include engines, handcrews, dozers, water tenders, rappelers, smoke jumpers, individual resources and aircraft.

On the Tiller Ranger District the fires include:

Buckeye Fire (#292) – Just west of Buckeye Lake within the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness. This fire is estimated at two-tenths of an acre. 80% lined.

Castle Fire (#297) – Located east of Carmen Lake. This fire is estimated at 15 acres.

Magnum Fire (#299) – Located east of Deer Lick Falls Trailhead. This fire is estimated at 10 acres. 15% lined.

Grasshopper Fire (#300) – Located south of Grasshopper Mountain, outside of Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness. This fire is estimated at 8.4 acres.

Whitehorse Fire (#313) – Located southwest of Whitehorse Meadows Trailhead, outside of the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness. This fire is estimated at 1.5 acres.

Lone Woman Fire (#318) – South of Cripple Camp Trailhead in the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness. This fire is estimated at one-tenth of an acre. 90% lined.

Lyn Fire (#319) – Located west of Triangle Lake within the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness. This fire is estimated at one-tenth of an acre. 100% lined, 10% mopped up.

Divide Fire (#326) – Located west of Raven Rock. Estimated at one-tenth of an acre. 100% lined.

As of Friday, the forest has moved into Public Use Restrictions Stage 2. The forest remains in High Fire Danger.
