ROSEBURG MAN DIES IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH FOLLOWING EARLIER POLICE CHASE

July 18, 2026 8:10 a.m.

A Roseburg man died in a motorcycle crash following an earlier police chase on Thursday morning.

A report from Oregon State Police said at about 10:50 a.m. troopers responded to the wreck near the 1200 block of West Lookingglass Road, just south of Roseburg.

Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office had been engaged in a pursuit with the motorcycle approximately ten to fifteen minutes prior to the crash. That pursuit had been discontinued by DCSO. The Roseburg Police Department observed the motorcycle heading northbound on West Lookingglass Road at a high rate of speed just before the wreck. Both DCSO and RPD requested that OSP handle the crash investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicated that 25-year-old Jackie Pearson Paul Willis lost control of the motorcycle while lane splitting at an extremely high rate of speed, causing the bike to crash in the roadway.

Willis was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.

No further information was provided by OSP.
