Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to an ATV crash late Thursday night, which ended up being just inside Coos County.

A DCSO report said at 11:15 p.m. a caller reported that a victim had crashed an ATV near the intersection of Weaver Road and Coos Bay Wagon Road. The caller directed first responders to the crash scene. A deputy found the victim and his ATV crashed down a steep embankment off an ATV trail.  The victim was not wearing a helmet and appeared to have suffered significant trauma.

The Central Douglas Fire & Rescue Steep Angle Rescue team responded and pronounced the victim deceased. A Medical Examiner responded and took possession of the body.

On Saturday, the victim was identified as 48-year-old George James Annereau of Idleyld Park.
