In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

Eight-time Grammy nominee, and blues-powerhouse Shemekia Copeland will take the stage at Riverbend Live! on Friday night. Praised by The Washington Post as “the greatest blues singer of her generation”, Copeland is known for her soulful performances that blend blues, rock, gospel soul and Americana influences.

Local musicians Dawn Day, Neil Gregory Johnson, Brian Dean, T-Bone Stone and Thomas Whiteside will open the show at approximately 6:45 p.m.

The series is celebrating its 30th year with concerts held at Winston’s Riverbend Park. Attendees can bring a blanket or chair along with their dinner, including wine or beer. Vendors will have a variety of food options including adult beverages.
