June 25, 2026 4:00 a.m.

After a stretch of hot weather, cooling begins Thursday in the Umpqua Valley.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that high pressure is weakening Thursday with afternoon high temperatures dropping by 10 degrees to around 80. A cold front moves in on Thursday night with precipitation likely through Sunday, but only minimal amounts expected.

Forecasters said between Friday and Sunday, the Roseburg area should see a total of a quarter of an inch of rain. Weather models show Friday receiving between 0.02 and 0.05 inches of rain. Saturday moisture will increase but only 0.15 inches of precipitation is expected. By early Sunday the rain should be gone, with cloudy cool weather continuing. Highs will range from 65 to 70 degrees over the three-day period. That is a drop of up to 25 degrees from conditions experienced earlier in the week, and 10 to 15 degrees below the normal high temperatures for this week in June.
