POWER CREWS RESPOND TO OUTAGE CAUSED BY FALLEN TREE

Crews with Pacific Power responded to a power outage that impacted hundreds of Roseburg area customers on Wednesday afternoon.

Pacific Power Regional Business Manager Sam Carter told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that over 1,600 meters were impacted in the Southgate area starting around 4:00 p.m. Carter said nearly 500 meters were quickly re-energized. Other customers, including some residents of the Green District, were without power for several hours.

Carter said the outage was caused by a tree that fell into power lines on Old Highway 99 South, north of Tipton Road. The Umpqua Valley experienced windy conditions throughout much of the day Wednesday.

News Radio 1240 KQEN and 1490 The Score, with transmitter facilities near the Douglas County Fairgrounds, lost power during the outage and were back on the air shortly before 10:30 p.m.
