In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

The Umpqua Valley Youth Orchestra continues student registration for the upcoming 2026-2027 season.

UVYO welcomes returning as well as new students with no experience. UYVO is a string orchestra consisting of violins, violas, cellos and string bass with occasional percussion and piano. Students must be at least six years of age by this fall to be signed up.

UVYO students are involved in weekly classes from pre-beginning up to advanced and will learn classical, baroque, romantic, and modern music as well as current original works and music from Broadway movies and pop. Students will perform in two large concerts at Umpqua Community College as well as other outreach opportunities in the community. Classes are held on Thursday afternoons at the Roseburg Seventh Day Adventist Church on Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard.
