LANDSLIDES IN FORESTED LANDSCAPES FIELD TOUR MAY 19TH

May 11, 2026 2:50 a.m.

The Oregon State University Extension Service invites landowners and managers to the Landslides in Forested Landscapes field tour on May 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

An Extension release said landslides are a natural occurrence that can impact lives and the land in the area. For landowners or managers, a landslide can alter the productivity of land and how it is harvested. Learning how to read the landscape and identify features of unstable terrain is an important skill. During this field trip, participants will visit multiple sites that demonstrate a variety of landslide features and indicators of unstable slopes.

The Landslides in Forested Landscapes field tour is in partnership with the Oregon Department of Forestry. Participants will meet in Glide and ride in vans, provided by OSU Extension, to various landslide locations up Rock Creek in Idleyld Park. Meeting location will be shared with participants upon registration for the workshop.

The tour is $5 per person, and advanced registration is required by May 17th. To register, go to: https://extension.oregonstate.edu/douglas/events/landslides-forested-landscapes-field-tour, or call OSU Extension in Douglas County at 672-6641.
