FUGITIVE JAILED IN SOUTH COUNTY BY DEPUTIES ON MONDAY

A fugitive was arrested in south county by deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

A DCSO report said at 8:15 a.m. a deputy allegedly observed the 30-year-old smoking methamphetamine under the Azalea-Glen Road Bridge in the Azalea area. The deputy confronted the man and told him to put his hands behind his back. The suspect started to run almost immediately. He was eventually taken into custody. After patting him down, the deputy reportedly located multiple baggies with user amounts of methamphetamine.

The suspect attempted to run again from the deputy. A brief struggle ensued. The man allegedly tried running onto the highway but was eventually detained. The man continued to resist, and deputies were ultimately able to gain control of his arms and placed him into handcuffs. Dispatch advised that the man had a felony warrant out of Grants Pass. One it was confirmed, he was transported to corrections. Bail was set at $50,000. The man was cited for unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
