Officials with Medford-based Sherm’s Thunderbird Market have announced that its four stores are up for sale.
A message to customers issued on Monday said the company’s goal is to find the right partner that will keep the stores operating just as they have for many years. Sherm’s General Manager Bob Ames said that it includes serving the community and taking care of the over 500 employees. Ames said Steve Olsrud, who has run the company for almost thirty years, is 78 years old and has chosen to work on this succession plan to try and accomplish this.
The message to customers said, ‘We love this community and appreciate how very good you have been to us. The generations of families who have done business with us have just been amazing and is very much appreciated”.
The announcement comes following the deaths of Sherm and Wanda Olsrud in 2019 and 2025 respectively.
Sherm’s began in Medford in 1967, later expanding to Klamath Falls in 1974, and to Roseburg in 2000. The company operates Sherm’s Thunderbird Markets in all three communities and Sherm’s Food 4 Less in Medford.
Sherm’s Thunderbird Market has a long history of supporting 4-H and FFA programs and donating to area food banks.
