Roseburg Police jailed two people Thursday following an alleged prior escape incident.

An RPD report said on Wednesday at approximately 9:30 a.m. officers located 34-year-old Michael Thompson, who was wanted for arrest, and attempted to detain him in the 2100 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway. Thompson reportedly fled on foot, 26-year-old Patricia Stevens allegedly interfered by getting in front of the officer’s patrol vehicle and making a 911 call reporting there was a male with a gun in the area of Sherm’s Thunderbird Market on Northwest Stewart Parkway. Officers searched a wide area looking for Thompson but did not locate him.

On Thursday at 10:30 a.m. an officer located the couple’s vehicle at a motel in the 700 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. Officers knocked on the door of their motel room and Stevens reportedly opened the door, before closing it promptly. Officers were aware that she had a warrant for her arrest as well. An employee of the business unlocked the door, and officers contacted both Thompson and Stevens. Both were detained and their warrants were confirmed.

Stevens was charged with hindering prosecution, misuse of 911, initiating a false report and for the warrants. Thompson was charged with third-degree escape and for the warrants. Both were detained on $25,000 bail.
