HOME SUSTAINS SMOKE DAMAGE IN RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE

December 22, 2025 2:00 p.m.

A home sustained smoke damage in a residential structure fire on Thursday night.

A Roseburg Fire Department report said just after 8:30 p.m. firefighters responded to the fire in the 1100 block of West Brown Avenue.

Battalion Chief Rob Mueller said firefighters arrived on scene to find the single-family house, with heavy smoke showing from both the first and second floors at the rear portion of the building.

Mueller said upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that the residents of the home had already evacuated. Firefighters found the fire to be contained to a bathroom within the structure. Heavy smoke was found throughout the home. Firefighters conducted a primary search, completed ventilation of the home, and rescued two cats from the second floor of the house.

Mueller said the damage was limited only to smoke. The cause of the fire was due to an overloaded multi-plug adapter. No injuries were sustained in the fire. Thirteen firefighters assisted with firefighting operations. Assisting agencies included Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, Avista Utilities, Pacific Power and Umpqua Valley Ambulance.
