A transient was jailed following an alleged disorderly conduct incident on Wednesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 8:00 a.m. a victim was near the 7000 block of Windy Creek Road in the Glendale area and was starting his workday near power company transmission lines.

The man was inside his work vehicle when he was approached by 40-year-old Owen Weese, who has been living in the area. Weese was reportedly irritated and told the victim that he needed to leave the area because there were 4 dead children in the creek and the FBI didn’t want anyone in the area. After the victim told Weese that he had work to do, the suspect allegedly hit his vehicle with an axe, causing damage.

Deputies contacted Weese who emerged from his travel trailer with hatchets in both hands. He complied with commands and was taken into custody. Weese has been living on Oregon Department of Forestry timberland for over a year, in violation of occupancy rules. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree criminal mischief, menacing, and second-degree counts of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $10,000.
