In partnership with the Roseburg Lions Club and local community organizations, “A Vision of Hope” initiative invites public support of a two-part vision-care event to ensure that all members of the community have access to eye screenings, glasses, and care.
A Douglas County Circuit Court release said “A Vision of Hope” is a community-driven project by H.O.P.E. Drug Court graduate phase participant Jason Roper whose goal is to help fulfill the mission of the Roseburg Lions Club to provide vision exams, eyeglasses and vision care to those in need.
Roper hopes to:
*Collect donated reader glasses to serve the adults in custody in the Douglas County Jail
*Host two free public vision-screening events help during the local wrap-around services program known as Connecting Point in Roseburg
*Raise awareness of the importance of vision health and access to glasses and exams for underserved populations in the county
*Collect money to provide the Lions Club funds for their scholarship program
Vision screening events will be held:
*Monday, November 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Roseburg Dream Center at 2555 Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard
*Thursday, November 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Opioid Treatment Program at 406 Northeast Winchester Street
Used reading glasses can be donated at a long list of locations posted with this story at www.541radio.com
