A driver was transported to the hospital following a single-vehicle wreck on Saturday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said shortly after 2:00 p.m. the 63-year-old transient was headed southbound in the 2600 block of Old Highway 99 South when his sedan left the road for an unknown reason and crashed into a rock wall. The man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center and was not interviewed on the scene.

Witnesses heard the driver say that he fell asleep at the wheel. A deputy attempted to follow up with the man at the hospital but was unable to speak with him. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
