Roseburg Police jailed a Grants Pass man after a reported disturbance on Sunday evening.

An RPD report said at 10:40 p.m. officers responded after the incident was called in and was allegedly taking place between a man and a woman in the 2700 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway. One of the reporting parties heard the female begging to be let go. The 37-year-old man denied that anything had occurred, but the woman claimed that he had choked her, punched her in the face, and told her he was going to take her someplace where no one would hear her scream.

The man’s probation officer wanted the suspect detained for failing to report as required. The suspect was taken into custody without issue and was transported to corrections. He was identified as Jamie Sharp, and was charged with fourth-degree assault, strangulation, menacing, second-degree kidnapping, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and a probation violation. Sharp was detained without bail.
