MOTORCYCLIST EVADES DEPUTY EARLY FRIDAY

A motorcyclist evaded a deputy early Friday morning.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 2:00 a.m. a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a sport motorcycle on Interstate 5 northbound, a mile south of Rice Hill. The motorcycle accelerated and did not yield. The deputy continued the pursuit for nearly 6 miles to near the Scotts Valley, Elkhead Road exit where the motorcycle made a complete stop.

As the deputy exited his patrol vehicle, the motorcyclist took off again, still headed northbound, The deputy pursued the bike to the Cox Road, Elk Creek exit where speeds were reaching over 130 miles per hour. At this time, the deputy terminated the pursuit. The motorcyclist continued northbound heading to Lane County.
