The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two men who died in separate single-vehicle accidents on Monday night.
A DCSO report said just before 8:30 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a crash in the 1100 block of Reuben Road. Undersheriff Brad O’Dell said the driver was headed eastbound toward Glendale when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and his vehicle went off the road into some trees. O’Dell said the vehicle caught fire, which was extinguished by an area fire department. EMT’s also responded to the scene and declared 39-year-old Oscar Bishop of Glendale to be deceased. He was extricated from the vehicle and placed in the care of the medical examiner.
Covering Coastal Douglas County: A pickup driven by a Reedsport man crashed near milepost 41, on Lower Smith River Road just before 6:30 p.m. Monday. A DCSO report said when a deputy arrived the driver, now identified as 47-year-old Patrick Jones, was already deceased. A mortuary took possession of his body.
The names of both victims were not released earlier so that DCSO could complete next of kin notifications.
