The Experience Roseburg Mural Project has announced the installation of two new murals in downtown Roseburg.

A release said both murals are created by nationally recognized artists whose work celebrates the spirit and natural beauty of the great outdoors.

The first mural, “Notice Beauty” is a collaborative piece by Oregon-based artists Katie Daisy and Karen Eland. Set against the iconic backdrop of Toketee Falls, the mural is a tribute to the Umpqua Valley lush flora and fauna – including western tanagers, foxglove, mushrooms, trillium and more. It is located at the corner of Southeast Washington Avenue and Southeast Jackson Street.

The second mural, “The Watcher”, comes from Denver-based illustrator and designer Brooks Engel, known for his bold, adventurous art under the name, “Nowhere Land” His mural showcases a black bear – “The Watcher” – from which flows a dynamic scene featuring a steelhead trout, western meadowlark, the Umpqua River, Mt. Thielsen and even Roseburg’s Mt. Nebo weather goats. It can be seen near the intersection of Southeast Rose Street and Southeast Lane Avenue.

Anvil Northwest Senior Designer Nate Wojtach said, “These murals become the sixth and seventh installations of a project we started almost three years ago”. Wojtach said, “The goal of this project has always been to add more public art tot the community, as well as provide an avenue for visitors and locals alike to explore our downtown area”.

The release said the Experience Roseburg Mural Project aims to enhance downtown Roseburg and create a vibrant, walkable gallery that honors the area’s culture landscape and people. Locals and visitors alike are invited to take a walking tour of all seven murals around downtown Roseburg.
