Roseburg Police are investigating a stabbing which took place Tuesday night in Stewart Park.

Public Information Officer Sergeant Daniel Allen said at approximately 9:50 p.m. RPD officers and deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident in the 2000 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway. Allen said from preliminary information it appears the stabbing was associated with a group of juveniles involved in a disturbance near the train at the park.

The incident progressed from a verbal disturbance to a physical fight reportedly involving two juveniles. During the physical altercation, one of the involved juveniles, a 15-year-old male, allegedly stabbed the other juvenile, a 17-year-old male, multiple times. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The 15-year-old was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.

Sergeant Allen said the investigation is ongoing and no additional details are being released at this time.
