TRANSIENT JAILED FOR REPORTED DISORDERLY CONDUCT

June 12, 2025 10:50 a.m.

A transient was jailed for reported disorderly conduct on Wednesday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 7:00 p.m. the 33-year-old was called in for jumping into the roadway in front of vehicles on Northwest Main Street in Winston. The man also called in and advised that he tried to jump in front of vehicles and that he wanted to do so again.

A deputy contacted the man next to a business. He was immediately hostile and said he had a knife and was going to commit suicide by cop. The man continued to be confrontational and uncooperative, causing a scene in front of the business.

After negotiating with the man for a time, he put away the knife, calmed down, and was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and was detained without bail.
