The FISH of Roseburg has announced the launch of a new monthly Canyonville Pop-Up Pantry, made possible with generous support from the Cow Creek Tribal Foundation and Three Rivers Foundation.

A release said the first pop-up pantry will be held Thursday, August 20, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00p.m. in front of the Canyonville City Offices on North Main Street. The pantry will return on the third Thursday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The pop-up pantry was designed to address a critical community need by making food assistance more accessible to families in and around Canyonville.

Executive Director of the FISH of Roseburg Jenn Reida said, “We know transportation can be a huge barrier when a family is already struggling,” Reida said, “Sometimes the answer is as simple as bringing the food closer to the people who need it. We are incredibly grateful to Cow Creek Tribal Foundation and Three Rivers Foundation for believing in this project and helping us make it happen.”

Support from both foundations is allowing FISH to begin bringing food directly into Canyonville while building relationships with residents, volunteers and community partners. The long-term hope is that these monthly pop-ups will help lay the groundwork for Canyonville to eventually develop a permanent food pantry of its own.

FISH will also be looking for volunteers, community partners and donations to help support the monthly pop-ups and their continued growth.
