Sutherlin Police jailed a man for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Saturday.

An SPD report said between May 27th and June 1st, an outboard-propelled pontoon boat was stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Wells Road in Oakland. A Facebook photo captured an older white van towing the boat near Northeast Darrel Street in Winston.

The boat was ultimately recovered. A 56-year-old Roseburg man had stolen the boat. He was eventually located and taken into custody. He was also charged with first-degree theft. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office added charges from other cases. The man was detained on $45,000 bail.
