ROSEBURG MAN CITED FOR RECKLESS DRIVING FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH

June 9, 2025 10:40 a.m.

A Roseburg man was cited for reckless driving following a single-vehicle crash on Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:20 p.m. the 30-year-old was traveling westbound on Buckhorn Road in the Dixonville area when he attempted to pass another speeding vehicle. The man told a deputy that birds were in the roadway, causing him to veer towards the south. When he did so, the man apparently lost control of his sedan and drove over the embankment, crashing into a field below.

Neither the driver nor his dog was injured, but the vehicle was totaled. The man was driving while suspended and had no insurance. The man was cited for several charges along with the initial violation. He was released after the citations were issued. A towing company recovered the vehicle.
