Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association are dealing with the Kingery Lane Fire in the Yoncalla area.

DFPA Acting Public Information Officer Nic Freeman said Friday at around 10:00 a.m. their crews along with staff from the North Douglas County Fire and EMS responded to a natural cover fire near Kingery Ranch Lane and Elkhead Road. Freeman said on arrival, the fire was found to be burning in slash and slowly spreading to vegetation.

DFPA responded with five engines and a tender to help with fire suppression and mop-up. The fire was listed as 1.67 acres in size. As of early Friday afternoon, DFPA had the fire 100 percent lined with dozer line and had begun mop-up procedures.

Freeman said DFPA is in command of the fire and will be working on it until it is 100 percent mopped up. 5 DFPA engines, a DFPA water tender and a contract excavator are assigned to the fire.

The cause of the Kingery Lane Fire is under investigation.
