Roseburg Police cited two men following a traffic stop late Thursday night.
An RPD report said just after 11:50 p.m. a 28-year-old man was stopped for traffic violations in the 2500 block of Northwest Edenbower Boulevard. During the stop, the officer learned that the driver was suspended at the misdemeanor level.
The officer noticed several merchandise boxes in the back of the vehicle, which still had anti-theft devices attached to them. A 24-year-old Winston man walked up to the location of the stop and told the officer the vehicle and boxes inside belonged to him. Additional officers arrived and spoke to the second man about the merchandise inside the vehicle. The second man admitted to stealing the merchandise from Walmart a short time earlier.
The merchandise, which totaled over $100, was recovered and returned to the store. A valid driver arrived on the scene and took possession of the vehicle.
