Roseburg Police jailed a man following a reported harassment incident on Friday morning.

An RPD report said at approximately 5:45 a.m. officers contacted 29-year-old Christopher McCrea in the 700 block of Southeast Jackson Street after a victim called 911 and claimed that McCrea had attacked him, unprovoked. Officers learned that McCrea was a registered sex offender and dispatch advised officers of the man’s last registered address.

McCrea reportedly told officers that he had not lived at that address for at least two months and never reported his new address. McCrea’s parole officer was contacted and authorized a detainer. The man was taken into custody and transported to corrections without incident.

McCrea was charged with harassment, failure to report as a sex offender, and for a parole violation. He was detained without bail.
