Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association have the Doe Hollow Fire 25 percent mopped up, as of late Saturday afternoon.

DFPA Acting Public Information Officer Nic Freeman said the goal is to have the fire 100 mopped up by the end of the weekend. Freeman said three type 6 engines, two twenty-person hand crews, one tender and one dozer remain assigned to the fire and will continue working on the fire all weekend.

The fire, near Doe Hollow Road in the Days Creek area, was first reported Thursday night around 7:00 p.m. It was initially estimated to be 40 acres but after more accurate mapping the fire is listed as 47 acres. The fire has been burning on private land in a unit with five-to-ten-year-old reproduction trees and slash.

The cause of the Doe Hollow Fire remains under investigation.
