A Canyonville man was jailed for allegedly resisting arrest, by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday afternoon.
A DCSO report said at 3:00 p.m. a deputy contacted 45-year-old Rodger Royle after learning that another deputy had probable cause to arrest him on a previous case. Royle was located near the intersection of Main Street and First Street in Riddle.
Royle reportedly refused to get out of the vehicle, so the deputy pulled him out and tried to place him into handcuffs. The deputy was able to get one cuff on, but Royle allegedly continued to resist. The deputy attempted to get the man on the ground, but Royle reportedly was able to get up and take off running. A taser was deployed and the man was placed under arrest. A small amount of fentanyl was allegedly located in his jacket.
Royle was charged with unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, resisting arrest and third-degree escape. He was detained on $5,000 bail.
