A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for much of the region.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said afternoon high temperatures between 100 and 105 degrees are expected. The Advisory area includes Douglas, Josephine, Jackson and eastern Curry counties.
Forecasters said hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Roseburg is forecast to reach 104 degrees Thursday. That would tie the record high temperature for the date, set in 1944. The mercury reached 98 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport on Wednesday. That was shy of the record for September 4th, which was 102 degrees, set in 1955.
