Oregon State University Extension Service of Douglas County will offer a day of classes centered on forestry and natural resource topics on Saturday, September 28th from 8:40 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
An extension release said the expansive education event will be held in the Health, Nursing and Science Center at Umpqua Community College. This is the last week to register for classes before rates increase, so don’t delay and snag the early bird pricing.
Tree School Umpqua features 24 classes on a wide variety of topics of interest to family forestland owners, professionals in forest and natural resources, loggers, arborists, teachers and the general public. Many classes qualify for continuing education credits
from a number of professional organizations.
Class topics include forest insects and diseases, forest pollinators, managing forests in a changing climate, fire, forest management planning, wildlife, tree and shrub identification, selling logs and more.
All participants must register in advance. Registration is $70 if completed by August 31st and $90 in person if completed between September 1st and 13th. Classes are filling up quickly and no walk-ins are allowed on the day of the event. Attendees can participate in up to four classes, enjoy a catered lunch, and visit with the exhibitors.
