July 31, 2024 3:50 a.m.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 2:00 p.m. Thursday through 8:00 p.m. Friday for much of inland southwestern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures will range from the upper 90s to around 105 degrees with overnight lows in the upper 50s to upper 60s.

The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, Josephine and Jackson counties and eastern Curry County.

Forecasters said hot temperatures may cause heat related illnesses. Certain medications may make people more vulnerable to heat illness. Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke are seen.
