A Tenmile man was jailed after a pursuit incident late Monday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 10:40 p.m. a deputy attempted to stop a sedan for violations in the 3000 block Strickland Canyon Road. The driver, 22-year-old Jered Thompson, proceeded west onto Highway 42 and continued with speeds between 60 and 100 miles per hour clear into Coos County before being spiked near Bridge by a Coos County deputy.
The spikes were successful on one tire, but Thompson continued into Myrtle Point before being spiked again by an Oregon State Police trooper and a City of Myrtle Point officer, which flattened the rest of the tires on the vehicle. Thompson eventually came to a stop in the middle of Highway 42 between Myrtle Point and Coquille.
Thompson was taken into custody without incident and explained that he ran because he was driving while suspended. He was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, driving while suspended, and for warrants. Thompson was detained on $10,000 bail.
