A Myrtle Creek man was jailed following an alleged strangulation incident on Friday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:45 p.m. units were dispatched to the 100 block of Wecks Road in the Myrtle Creek area after a caller said there was a disturbance.

It was reported that 34-year-old James Nelson had left the location intoxicated and driving a pickup, after assaulting two victims. Both victims claimed Nelson had strangled them and kept them from calling 911 by taking their phones. All parties had the same story as to the events that had happened. The victims reportedly had some minor injuries to support what they had said.

Nelson was located later by deputies at another location. They attempted to take him into custody, but Nelson allegedly ran from deputies after being told that he was under arrest. He was ultimately detained and was reportedly clearly impaired.

Nelson was jailed on six charges, including a felony count of strangulation, third degree counts of assault and escape, interfering with making a police report, driving under the influence of intoxicants, and driving while suspended. Nelson was detained without bail.
