To coincide with Graffiti Weekend, Umpqua Community College is presenting an outdoor concert, “The Day the Music Died” nightly at 7:30 p.m. through Sunday.

Created by UCC Music Professor Dr. Jason Heald and produced and directed by Theatre Arts Assistant Professor Bart McHenry, this show celebrates the era and artists of the plane crash that killed early rock and roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper, memorialized in Don McLean’s classic song, “American Pie”.

The show is taking place in the UCC Swanson Amphitheater, which will include chair seating, bistro tables and a picnic area. Food will be available for purchase. Wine will be available for purchase from the Southern Oregon Wine Institute at $5 per glass.

General admission is $15, cash at the door. Seniors get in for $10 and students of all ages are admitted for free.
