A Tenmile woman was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries after an apparent RV explosion early Saturday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 1:10 a.m. dispatch was notified of an RV fire near a pullout on Olalla Road in the Tenmile area. Deputies and fire crews responded to the scene.

It was determined that the victim and a man have been living in the RV at that location. The man had been cutting firewood at a nearby residence. A family member of the victim had gone to check on her. He found the trailer on fire and left to tell the second person and a neighbor. The family member and the man returned to look for the victim. She was located about 60 feet from the trailer, down a ravine. The victim was badly burned from head to toe with significant injuries. At that time, she was conscious, complaining of having trouble breathing and not being able to find her dogs.

First responders transported the victim to the Winston Fire Department, where she was moved to an ambulance and taken to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The woman was life flighted to the burn unit of Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.

Fire crews remained on the scene controlling the fire.
