Tuesday evening, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team arrested a habitual drug offender in the south county area, and seized a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

DINT Commander Lieutenant Rick McArthur said detectives had been investigating the suspected illegal activities of 52-year-old Randall Slay of Myrtle Creek. McArthur said they had reason to believe Slay was driving to a location to make a drug deal.

With help from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop was initiated on Slay and his vehicle in the 900 block of South Main Street in Myrtle Creek. DCSO K9 Trapper gave the alert, indicating he had smelled the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

McArthur said detectives and a deputy located approximately 16.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine in Slay’s possession. In a subsequent search of Slay’s vehicle, detectives reportedly found four more baggies containing various amounts of suspected meth. In total, from the traffic stop, detectives seized approximately 173 grams of suspected meth.

Shortly thereafter, a search was conducted of Slay’s residence. There, detectives located an additional approximately 134 grams of suspected meth and several items of drug paraphernalia to include scales, baggies, pipes, scoopers and more.

Slay was charged with unlawful possession, delivery and manufacture of methamphetamine. Other charges were added. Bail was set at $400,000.
