The Umpqua Community Veg Education Group will have the next round of its Lifestyle & Nutrition Course starting soon.
The 13-week evidence based, disease prevention and reversal series, uses lifestyle medicine to address the leading causes of death in the U.S. and Douglas County.
A UC-VEG release said new topics are covered each week, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and other chronic illnesses as well as how to manage stress, engage mindfulness, avoid toxins and chemicals, and incorporate more exercise into each day. The theoretical portion of the program is complemented with practical strategies, cooking demos and recipe sampling, along with take-home packets of helpful handouts and easy and affordable recipes.
Classes are held on Thursdays, beginning April 4th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Aviva Health Conference Room on Northeast Kenneth Ford Drive. Satellite locations are in Elkton and Yoncalla. Classes can be taken via Zoom as well.
There is no fee for the course but a $145 per person donation is appreciated.
