ELIN MILLER, GUY KENNERLY NAMED FIRST CITIZENS OF 2023

Elin Miller and Guy Kennerly were named the female and male First Citizens by the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday night.

Miller and Kennerky were given the honor due to their many years of service in the community, at the chamber’s 69th annual awards dinner. Four local businesses were also honored at the event held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

Miller was recognized for her service to youth and the local agricultural community. She previously served on the board and as board president for the United Community Action Network and was also on the board for Umpqua Community College. Miller is currently on boards for the UCC Foundation, Community Cancer Center, Oregon Wine Council and Oregon’s Future Farmers of America Foundation.

Kennerly owns Umpqua Insurance Agency and Umpqua Valley Tractor. His current volunteer work includes being on the boards of the Douglas County Farmer’s Co-op, Cascade Community Credit Union and UCC. He is the longest serving board member for the Community Cancer Center. In the past, he has been on the Douglas County Industrial Development Board, the Douglas County Planning Commission, Winston-Dillard School District Board, and the board for the Roseburg chamber.

Businesses honored for their excellence were:

*Community Cancer Center was named 2023 small business of the year

*Abby’s Legendary Pizza was honored as the medium-size business of the year

*Roseburg Forest Products was named the large business of the year

*Aviva Health was recognized for its excellence in business innovation.

About 150 people attended the event.
