Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged assault incident on Tuesday night.
An RPD report said at 6:50 p.m. officers and several Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Stewart Park in the area of green bridge. 45-year-old Chad Moore had reportedly hit a victim in the head with a baseball bat. When the officers arrived, Moore still allegedly had the bat in his hands. He was warned to drop the bat as he continued to walk towards the officers. A taser was then deployed on Moore. He was taken into custody without further incident.
The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for her injuries. Moore also reportedly had hit a second victim with the bat when she attempted to help the other victim get away from the suspect. The person was not injured.
Moore was charged with second-degree assault, two counts each of unlawful use of a weapon and menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct and harassment. He was detained without bail.
