BLM CARRIES OUT HAZARD TREE REMOVAL

January 8, 2024 9:50 a.m.

The Roseburg District of the Bureau of Land Management has received a report of falling trees near members of the public along the Susan Creek Falls trail.

Assistant Field Manager for the Swiftwater Field Office Cheyne Rossbach said the agency is thankful that no one was seriously hurt during this event.

Rossbach said the BLM has carried out hazard tree removal along primary road systems and around stationary locations such as the Susan Creek Falls viewpoint and the trailhead parking lot.

Standing dead trees however remain throughout the fire scar, including adjacent to trail systems. Rossbach said it is important that the public monitor current conditions and assess the risks on an individual/situational basis before traveling through those areas.
