The Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College presents “Substrata” January 8th through February 7th.
A UCC release said created by Andrew Myers, the show features a variety of landscapes that are illustrated in drawings that reflect visual perspective as well as time.
Myers said, “Each piece is comprised of various viewpoints, memories, photographs, collected research, sketches and feelings I have gathered from each area. The drawings are a record of the time I have spent in the place.”.
The release said Myers is an Oregon based visual artist and educator who explores the concepts of instinct, extinction, isolation and the conservation and preservation of wild places and creatures in work that is drawing-based with elements of installation, printmaking, sculpture and animation.
Myers is a two-time recipient of the Career Opportunity Grant from the Oregon Arts Commission and The Ford Family Foundation. He currently teaches at Oregon State University.
The show will be on display at the gallery, at the Whipple Fine Arts Center. Hours are weekly 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
