Roseburg Police jailed a man after a hit & run incident Sunday morning.

An RPD report said at about 10:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Northeast Freemont Street after a vehicle had crashed into a power pole. When officers arrived on the scene, witnesses said two men had fled after the wreck, with one of them reportedly carrying a bottle of alcohol.

Officers contacted the 25-year old driver at his nearby residence. The man admitted to crashing into the pole and fleeing the scene. He was taken into custody without incident. The man was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and for failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage. He was detained on $12,500 bail.
