Roseburg Police jailed a man for city ordinance violations and a warrant early Tuesday.
An RPD report said at 2:50 a.m. officers contacted 46-year-old Joshua Wood, because he was sitting next to a campfire at a camp in Gaddis Park, in the 800 block of Northwest Highland Street. The camp was in violation of the manner portion of the city’s camping ordinance. Wood was also found to be in possession of an axe, which is a restricted weapon and tool inside a city park. The man had seven prior prohibited camping convictions and an RPD warrant for his arrest. Wood was charged with a criminal count of prohibited camping. He was also cited for prohibited outdoor burning and having prohibited weapons and tools in the parks. Wood was detained on $6,250 bail.
