Roseburg Police responded to a crash in the downtown area on Thursday morning.

An RPD report said just before 11:25 a.m. officers were dispatched to the intersection of Southeast Douglas Avenue and Southeast Pine Street.  Officers arrived on the scene and found that a pickup had crashed into a railroad arm. The vehicle had a cracked windshield and minimal damage to the body.

The driver, a 73-year-old man, said he was driving on Southeast Douglas and when he wiped his eyes with a shirt, his vehicle hit the railroad crossing arm as it was coming down. The man was able to drive from the scene. Central Oregon and Pacific Railroad arrived on scene to inspect the crossing arm and determined that it was undamaged. It was later reattached.
