The Douglas County Board of Commissioners are conducting the lighting of the 43rd Annual Douglas County Christmas Tree on Sunday, November 29th, at 6:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the Douglas County Courthouse.
A county release said this year’s celebration will honor America’s 250th anniversary of independence and freedom, bringing together patriotic fanfare, cherished holiday traditions, and the community spirit that makes this annual event so special.
The evening’s festivities include a family-oriented program with patriotic and holiday music presented by the Hucrest Community Choir, under the direction of Colin Hurowitz; the reading of Christmas in America story; tree lighting; and a visit from the Jolly Old Elf himself, Santa Claus.
Across the street from the courthouse, Roseburg’s First Christian Church and Journey Church will once again present a live nativity scene. The hospitality tent sponsored by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners and First Christian Church will feature hot cocoa, coffee and cookies served by the Miss Douglas County Scholarship Program.
The 2026 Douglas County Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony represents a longstanding collaboration between the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, City of Roseburg and Roseburg’s First Christian Church.
The 2026 Douglas County Tree Lighting Ceremony will be live streamed on the Douglas County Government Facebook page starting at 5:50 p.m. To watch the tree lighting go to: https://www.facebook.com/DouglasCountyeGovernment
