Crews with Central Douglas Fire & Rescue and other agencies responded to a fast-moving grass fire in a field on Ladybug Lane on Sunday afternoon.

A CDF&R release said they were dispatched to the fire just after 5:20 p.m. Initial reports indicated the fire was covering 2 acres, with a home nearby but not yet threatened.

The first responding fire crew reported the fire was wind-driven and up to 10 acres, moving towards a house on Roberts Creek Road. Command was established and a second alarm was dispatched for additional resources. Crews worked quickly to knock down the head of the fire while a structural protection division was established to evaluate and protect nearby homes and structures.

CDF&R responded with three brush units, two fire engines, two water tenders and one command vehicle for a total of 15 personnel. They were assisted by Roseburg Fire, Sutherlin Fire, Lookingglass Fire and the Douglas Forest Protective Association.
