SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET AT FIR GROVE ELEMENTARY WEDNESDAY NIGHT

October 14, 2026 3:50 a.m.

The Roseburg School Board will meet at Fir Grove Elementary Wednesday night.

While the location was previously scheduled, the meeting comes only two weeks after Superintendent Jared Cordon recommended that the 66-year-old school be closed at the end of this school year, as part of a move to consolidate facilities due to declining enrollment in the district.

The board agenda has a number of standard items including a report from Fir Grove Principal Katrina Hanson, a report from leadership students at Roseburg High School, student and staff recognition including the presentation of Crystal Apple Awards to Fir Grove Office Manager Lisa Jarrett and kindergarten teach Amy Larman and more. The board will also consider a resolution for American Education Week in November and hear a number of reports.

Roseburg Schools Communications Coordinator Chelsea Duncan said there is no action item on the agenda regarding the future of Fir Grove, but staff does anticipate expanding the regular public participation time to accommodate Fir Grove input.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium/cafeteria.
