CITY/COUNTY BUILDING DEPARTMENT REVOKES OCCUPANCY FOR BUDGET 16 MOTEL

October 8, 2026 3:40 a.m.

The Budget 16 Motel on Northeast Stephens Street in Roseburg has been shut down.

A statement from City of Roseburg officials said: “The City of Roseburg and Douglas County Building Department have revoked occupancy at the Budget 16 Motel based on unsafe conditions that violate, fire, life, and safety requirements”. The statement continued, “We hope the property owner will take the necessary steps to obtain appropriate permits and fix the issues causing these deficiencies. Based on possible litigation the City and County can provide no further comment”.

“Danger” signs were posted on each room of the hotel, dated September 29th. A check by News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN on Wednesday showed no activity outside the motel except for a group of cats wandering around in the parking lot. Budget 16 housed long-term residents, some of whom had apparently lived there for at least two years.

KQEN is seeking more information on the situation.
