The U.S. Postal Service has responded to mail delivery complaints from residents in the City of Winston.

Recently Mayor Christie Knutson sent a letter to Congresswoman Val Hoyle requesting that her office investigate ongoing and frequents concerns about mail delivery in the 97496-delivery area. Knutson said city staff had received a significant number of complaints concerning the mishandling and mis-delivery of mail and packages.

U.S. Postal Service Manager of Customer Relations for Oregon, Idaho and Montana John Sandness responded with a letter to the mayor dated September 18th. Sandness said after investigation and consultation with local management, the inquiry has been addressed and closed.

Sandness said the Manager of Postal Operations addressed the manner with the local delivery team by conducting a stand-up talk with all carries, reinforcing the importance of verifying the correct delivery point for every package.

In addition, Sandness said postal officials reviewed available delivery-route stop data and carrier’s line of travel and did not identify any patterns or irregularities that would indicate an ongoing delivery issue requiring further investigation at this time.

Sandness said the agency will continue to reinforce proper scanning and delivery practices and monitor available data for any emerging trends.

City staff said the letter is the only response they have received to the issue.
